Wages & Higher Paying Careers
Rob knows that living wages matter; whether it’s access to affordable housing, transportation, or education opportunities, economic security fundamentally affects almost every aspect of working families lives. He will continue to be an outspoken advocate for a $15 minimum wage on all projects and work to attract new jobs to our community that give every Columbus resident the economic security they deserve and a pathway to a lifelong career. He believes that the City should use both its contracting power and bully pulpit to lift wages and encourage responsible development in the city.
Affordable Housing
Rob worked with his council colleagues to provide $5.6 million dollars towards affordable housing in Columbus. These funds will help the Affordable Housing Trust of Columbus to award grants for building homes for families. He will continue to work with affordable housing advocates to create more opportunities for people to achieve the dream of home ownership.
Workforce Development
Rob knows that a well educated workforce is key to attracting employers to Columbus. In his time on council he has already advocated for multiple projects that required the use of union workers who have completed apprenticeship programs. These programs provide low income residents with direct pathways to careers that provide living wages with retirement and healthcare benefits. Rob will continue to work to ensure Columbus residents to these job training resources and other educational opportunities. Rob believes in giving every child the tools they need to be successful and employable in the city they grew up in.
